Job Description:

The UF Health Cancer Center is the 72nd NCI designated cancer center and the only one at a public university in the State of Florida. As a matrix cancer center, we span 11 of the University of Florida's 16 colleges, pulling together a world-class, multi-disciplinary membership of over 330 faculty and 150 staff to address the challenges of the cancer burden faced by the population we serve as we work together to find a cure.

As a research administrator at the UFHCC, you will serve as a critical liaison between the UFHCC and principal investigators, departmental chairs and administrators, the office of the SVP for Health Affairs, UF core offices, and granting agencies.

In your new role you will be responsible for the following:

  • Administration of all grant and contract proposals received by the UFHCC, including all traditional research administration responsibilities assigned to the pre-award stage of the research administration process.
  • Administration of all post-award responsibilities for grants and contracts awarded in the UFHCC including oversight of commitments, sponsor relations, critical dates, grants related expenses, and other related tasks.
  • Administration of the UFHCC’s internal funding mechanisms and pilot awards including administrative oversight of the RFA, review, and award processes related to these awards.

This is an experienced, professional position, ideal for candidates with established careers in research administration and an interest in furthering their career in research administration. Employees in these roles operate as part of our collaborative research enterprise and are fundamental to the progress of cancer research being conducted at the University of Florida. Expected Salary:

$58,000 - $70,000; Commensurate with Education and Experience.

This is a TEAMS position, and is eligible for a suite of excellent benefits, retirement options, and paid leave.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience in grant and contract administration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certification as a Certified Research Administration (CRA), Certified Pre-award Research Administrator (CPRA), or Certified Financial Research Administration (CFRA) required within 12-months of hire or eligible for certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or other related field.
  • Two to four years research administration experience engaging with pre and/or post-award management in an academic medical research environment, or similar.
  • Proficient understanding of programs and processes of primary granting agencies, to include, but not limited to, NIH and other federal sponsors, state and private foundation regulations and requirements, as well as other corporate and private sponsors.
  • Proficient understanding of federal grants management guidelines including 2CFR200, Federal Acquisition Regulations, and the NSF Proposal and Award Policies and Procedures Guide.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of accounting practices and applied GAAP and GAS principles as well as State/Federal and institutional accounting rules and regulations.
  • Prior experience using PeopleSoft and/or UFIRST, or another similar enterprise finance and grants management system, preferred.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to work with detailed financial data and to analyze financial information.
  • Demonstrated quantitative and data analytic skills, with ability to generate, distill and interpret data for senior leadership on metric and benchmarking analysis to provide logical conclusions/projections and program evaluation and anticipating costs/obligations.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills and the flexibility to handle multiple tasks and deadline pressures.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands, and demonstrate the highest level of customer/client service and response.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment.
  • Excellent ability to develop project and proposals and drive them to completion through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders across functions, including working directly with University and senior leadership to achieve the goals of ongoing projects.
  • Strong meeting management, group facilitation, and consultation skills.
  • Demonstrated success in project management and awareness of various project management modalities and techniques.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
