UF Research Integrity, Security and Compliance (RISC) is UF Research’s primary Division responsible for developing and implementing research compliance programs that promote ethical and legally compliant research practices throughout UF’s research enterprise.
This position is the second in the five-level compliance analysist series. The Compliance Analyst will assist UF RISC in execution of the research conflict of interest and other compliance functions. The Compliance Analyst will be responsible for processing reviews and approvals, including awards and agreements, Outside Activities and Financial Interests, human subjects research protocols and license agreements. The Specialist will assist in ensuring compliance with federal and sponsor conflict of interest policies; including, evaluating disclosed interests, coordinating approval processes, drafting management plans, and assisting UF RISC leadership in developing policies and procedures. The incumbent will work with many compliance, regulatory, administrative and advisory units on campus to help faculty and staff eliminate, minimize, or manage actual or potential financial conflicts of interest related to research.
Review and approve awards, agreements, outside activity disclosures, human subject research protocols, and license agreements. Make determinations related to RCOI risk mitigation and compliance and identify potential financial conflicts of interests (FCOI), Make determinations regarding the requirement for a FCOI management plans, or other risk mitigation tools. Independently interpret and implement applicable University and federal policies, procedures and guidelines. Based on independent analysis, approve awards and agreements for release of funds.
Maintain an understanding of research regulations, ethics, and guidelines to determine relatedness and to propose mitigation and management strategies. Assist with annual monitoring and review of FCOI management plans. Identify potential issues related to FCOI monitoring and propose solutions. Collaborate with college and department level faculty, staff and administration to identify and resolve unique issues related to research compliance. Serve as a resource to University faculty and staff in the interpretation of applicable regulations.
Perform investigator duties for the Research Misconduct (RM) program. Including the following: identify documents for review, catalog evidence, and maintain chain of custody. Conduct review and analysis of pertinent materials, in accordance with UF and Federal regulations. Conduct analysis of source data, other evidence and interview transcripts. Prepare assessments and reports for RIO approval and manage faculty committees.
Maintain internal logs and records related to the COI and RM programs. Perform data entry, assist with scheduling management plan meetings, and maintain COI files. Maintain a familiarity with UF Research contracting, award negotiation and financial management, including an understanding of 2 CFR 200.
