CryoEM Sample Preparation and Data Collection
•Prepare, optimize, and handle biological samples for CryoEM, including grid preparation, vitrification, and managing cryogenic conditions.
•Utilize the 300 kV cryogenic electron microscope to collect high-quality data for structural analysis.
Data Processing and Analysis
•Process and analyze CryoEM data using advanced computational techniques and software to determine protein structures.
•Collaborate with lab members on structure-function relationships, interpreting structural data to elucidate signaling pathways related to the cytoskeleton.
Research Project Management and Coordination
•Design, execute, and oversee research projects, contributing to experimental strategy, data analysis, and troubleshooting.
•Manage timelines, coordinate resources, and communicate results to both internal and external stakeholders
Training and Mentorship
•Provide guidance to postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and research staff in experimental techniques, data interpretation, and best practices in CryoEM.
•Foster a collaborative and innovative lab environment by mentoring junior lab members.
Laboratory Documentation and Compliance
•Maintain accurate records of experimental protocols, data, and results.
•Ensure compliance with institutional and federal guidelines for health and safety.
Outreach and Collaboration
•Participate in collaborative projects with other departments or institutions, representing the lab’s CryoEM capabilities and fostering scientific exchange.
Technical Maintenance and Troubleshooting
•Assist with minor maintenance and troubleshooting of the CryoEM equipment and other laboratory instrumentation as needed.
