The Department of Community Health and Family Medicine (CHFM) is excited to welcome a new Family Medicine Physician to our team at the newly opened UF Health Eastside Urgent Care Center in Gainesville! 

This is more than just a job-it’s a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of improving healthcare access for the East Gainesville community. As part of a collaborative effort with the University of Florida, the City of Gainesville, and Alachua County, you’ll play a vital role in providing compassionate, high-quality care that makes a real difference, particularly for the diverse and underserved population of local residents. Full-time is strongly preferred; however, part-time may be considered depending on the needs of the clinic and applicants.

Clinical Duties:

  • Deliver direct, comprehensive care as a Family Medicine Physician at UF Health Eastside Urgent Care Center, focusing on preventive care, diagnosis, and managing acute and chronic conditions.
  • Provide leadership in a patient-centered care model, guiding quality care and supporting a collaborative, interdisciplinary team approach.
  • Engage in community-focused healthcare efforts to address healthcare disparities, emphasizing holistic well-being for the East Gainesville community.
  • Participate in team-based care delivery, supervising and collaborating with ARNPs and PAs to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Flexible scheduling available to accommodate full-time or part-time roles based on clinic needs and candidate preferences.

About the Opportunity:

  • Physicians will lead a dedicated team providing urgent care services to patients of all ages. The initiative emphasizes integrating urgent care with continuity of care for underserved patients by connecting them to other community services, including our Family Medicine Clinics, the UF Mobile Outreach Clinic, and the medical student-run Equal Access Clinic.
  • Conduct thorough physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and develop personalized treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team for coordinated and holistic patient care.
  • Utilize electronic medical records (EMR) to document patient encounters accurately.

Nestled in the heart of East Gainesville, our 10,000-square-foot facility is designed to foster a healing environment equipped with cutting-edge medical technology. The center’s design embodies a patient-centric approach, offering various medical services to address urgent healthcare needs and being equipped with imaging and laboratory services. Operating seven days a week, we prioritize accessibility, welcoming walk-in patients, and catering to an anticipated volume of 12,000 to 15,000 patients in our inaugural year. The City of Gainesville and Alachua County are reinvesting in East Gainesville to provide vital medical, dental, and mental health services. Minimum Requirements:
  • An M.D. or D.O. degree (or equivalent), board certification or eligibility in Family Medicine, and a current Florida medical license (or eligibility) are required.
  • Eligible or have a valid Florida medical license.
  • Proven experience in providing comprehensive primary care services to patients of all ages.
  • Strong diagnostic and clinical skills, with the ability to manage a wide range of acute and chronic conditions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centered approach.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Experience with Electronic Health Record (E.H.R.) systems is also essential.
