Assists in clinic specialty areas as needed, where the following may be required: provides “four-handed” dental assisting in a broad array of non-surgical and surgical care with an emphasis on the surgical placement of dental implants. Duties include setting up and breaking down dental operatories; taking and processing dental x-rays, maintaining and sterilizing dental instruments; instruction of patients in oral hygiene and post-operative care; maintenance of a large assortment of dental instrumentation, and the ordering and surveillance of supply inventories for periodontal regeneration and implant placement. Assists with other duties as required to maintain efficient flow of patient care.
- Receptionist for the Graduate Periodontics Clinic. Responds to telephone and personal inquiries and requests. Retrieves messages that were left after hours on voice mail and throughout the day. Returns voice mail messages and phone calls in a timely manner. Other desk duties as needed. Schedules all patients for 11 residents, two fellows and one dental hygienist (RDH). Responsible for rescheduling appointments (when necessary). Confirms patient appointments for the RDH and residents when the house calls report is emailed two days in advance. Checks reports for cancellations or unanswered calls and makes attempt to call patient to reschedule appointment, etc. Responsible for filling gaps in schedule when cancellations occur in a timely manner. Schedules all IV sedations and coordinates with other schedules. Schedules all outside referrals and referrals retrieved from electronic chart system. Schedules all dental and medical radiographic (CTs) appointments and coordinates with other appointments if needed at that time. Responsible for scheduling surgeries in the operating rooms of local area hospitals.
- Dental assist with faculty, residents and student dentists during their practice chair side in the care of the patients. Set up and break down operatories, take and process x-rays, sterilize instruments, assist with other duties as needed.
- Assists the Graduate Program Director, RDH, and dental assistants (2) with a variety of routine requests as necessary.
- Inputs DMD implant consults in Axium when schedule is emailed through Outlook calendar.
- Responsible for scanning all correspondence, referrals, etc. in patient’s electronic chart.
- Provides back up to Senior Fiscal Assistant with reviewing all patients for history of payment and current balances when scheduling appointments.

Expected Salary: |
$16.00 - $17.00 per hour

Minimum Requirements: |
High school diploma or equivalent.
|
Preferred Qualifications: |
- Dental receptionist experience
- Extensive knowledge and a minimum of 5 years’ experience of assisting in the surgical placement of dental implants. Included in this would be an in depth knowledge of multiple implant systems, their maintenance and ordering needs as required.
- Minimum of 5 years in assisting in intravenous sedation including demonstrated experience in phlebotomy.
- Certified Dental Assistant and Certified Dental Radiographer
