Job Description:

UF Information Technology (UFIT) is currently seeking an entry level Telephone System Operator to join the UF Campus Operators, a unit within UFIT.

Employment with UFIT provides an excellent opportunity to work with other dedicated employees focused on understanding and interpreting the technological needs of the University of Florida’s innovative and inspirational community.

This position will answer incoming calls on the University’s main phone number, answer inquiries regarding University programs and activities, and location of facilities and colleges. They may also assist in communicating with other groups within the university to coordinate information so that callers receive consistent, accurate answers about university services and events.

Some key responsibilities and characteristics of this position are:

  • Assists callers with basic information attained from guides, directories, computer, and other reference sources such as numbers, locations, and events on campus
  • Transfers callers to appropriate offices and offers correct numbers
  • Provides excellent customer service in order to provide callers a positive experience with the university

Benefits

Full-time TEAMS employees accrue vacation leave at a rate of 6.769 hours biweekly/22 days annually and sick leave at 4 hours biweekly/13 days annually. In addition, employees are eligible for ten paid holidays each year.

Vacation-accruing TEAMS employees are eligible for four personal leave days/32 hours per year, assuming full-time status. These leave days may allow units to close from December 26 to 31, when possible, determined on a unit-by-unit basis.

Expected Salary:

$15.00/hr; commensurate based on education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent and one year of relevant experience.

Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience but does not negate the minimum degree requirement(s).

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following education, experience, and skills:

  • Practice in providing superior customer service
  • Experience as a telephone operator or with multi-line phone systems
  • Have a professional attitude which is conveyed in all interactions

This position requires US work authorization.

This role will be based in one of our Gainesville offices and may include a hybrid schedule: three days in the office (Wednesday required) and two days remote.

A Criminal Background Screening is required.
