The Immigration Specialist II manages all aspects of the immigration process for all UF COM-J faculty and staff as well as the human resource functions of hiring, terminating and processing all job actions for nonimmigrant employees. The incumbent will collect, review and evaluate pertinent information regarding nonimmigrant petitions for applicable statuses before their submission to our Fragomen law firm and UF Immigration Compliance Services (UF ICS) for adjudication as well as coordinate the immigration process within the hiring guidelines and deadlines for employment. The incumbent serves as a resource for faculty, staff, administrators with non-immigrant and immigration related issues. These responsibilities require the incumbent to possess a comprehensive understanding of detailed and complex federal regulations and procedures related to immigration, in addition to a broad knowledge of applicable university regulations and procedures regarding human resources and compliance procedures from two federal agencies: U.S. Citizenship Immigration and Citizenship Services (USCIS) and U.S. Department of Labor (DOL).
