Job Description:

All Reitz Union student employees must:

  • Be a current University of Florida full-time student in good standing with at least a 2.0+ GPA
  • Respond to and assist with emergency situations and building evacuations per department procedures or as instructed by building management staff
  • Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining a high level of professionalism
  • Demonstrate a desire and willingness to learn in a fast-paced team-oriented environment
  • Establish an exemplary work ethic by being proactive, self-motivated, and dependable
  • Participate in all scheduled meetings, trainings, and evaluations
  • Act as an ambassador for all areas within the Reitz Union, as well as the University of Florida, providing accurate information and campus resources

Position Specific Responsibilities:

  • Must be available to work 10 - 20 hours per week
  • Attend weekly events to capture high-quality photos and videos highlighting the Reitz Union’s offerings and student experiences
  • Ideate, develop, and pitch unique content ideas for various social media platforms, including Instagram and Facebook
  • Assist in and provide an educated voice in the planning, development and execution of marketing plans
  • Create engaging captions and content that resonate with the student community and align with current social media trends
  • Edit photos using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop; edit videos using Adobe Premiere Pro or other video editing software
  • Maintain care and responsibility of photography and video equipment, including Canon Digital SLRs
  • Organize and maintain the Reitz Union’s database of photography and video assets
  • Work collaboratively with the communications team to plan, develop, and execute video production plans
  • Upload videos and photos to shared locations accessible by the communications staff
  • Work independently to complete projects in a timely manner while demonstrating initiative and creativity
  • Perform other duties related to the role as needed

Position Requirements:

  • Proficient with photo and video equipment
  • Familiar with Adobe Creative Suite (Lightroom, Photoshop) and video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro or similar)
  • Experience using Apple Mac computers
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms (specifically Instagram and Facebook), and familiarity with current trends
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to interact comfortably with individuals in social media environments
  • Exceptional team player 
  • Time management skills
  • Ability to think creatively, strategically, and collaboratively
  • Available to attend events during weekdays, evenings, holidays, and weekends as needed
Advertised Salary:

$14.00/hour 

Minimum Requirements:

This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through Other Personnel Services (OPS) or Federal Work-Study (FWS) and must maintain a 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Preferred majors include Communications, Photography, Graphic Design, Marketing, Film, Journalism or other related fields
  • Experience with graphic design
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks or projects simultaneously
