Job Description: 

The University of Florida College of Nursing is seeking a dedicated part-time Research Interventionist Nurse to join our team for a large behavioral clinical trial focused on chronic pain management. The successful candidate will work directly with older adult participants to screen, schedule, and deliver an IRB-approved pain self-management intervention. Responsibilities also include accurate data collection and entry into data management systems

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver and monitor weekly interventions to participants in-person.
  • Monitor smartwatch ecological momentary assessments and ecological momentary interventions function and data transmission.
  • Collect and enter information into data management systems.
  • Maintain participant blinding.

Assist with overseeing workflow of intervention operations at GNV and JAX sites:

  • Prepare study materials.
  • Participant screening, consent, scheduling, communication/follow-up, and compensation.
  • Ensure IRB protocol compliance.
  • Monitor supplies inventory.
  • Resolve technical issues.
  • Participate in weekly lab meetings.

Support community outreach and activities:

  • Participant recruitment and retention.
  • Serve as a liaison to community-based organization stakeholders.
  • Participate in problem-solving activities to adjust recruitment and retention strategies.

Follow an IRB-approved protocol and train new research assistants:

  • Contribute to the promotion of human participant protections at all points in the conduct of research.
  • Prepare documents for the IRB and Safety Officer.
  • Help manage essential regulatory documents such as standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training guidelines.

Assist with activities related to the publication of findings and preparation of presentations.

Expected Salary:

$37.43/hourly

Minimum Requirements:

Diploma in nursing (LPN) or Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in nursing (RN); or an equivalent combination of nursing education and research experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

EDUCATION & TRAINING: Diploma in nursing (LPN) or an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in nursing. Active and unencumbered LPN or RN license in FL - *Specialty as Faith Community Nurse or Community Health Nurse preferred

EXPERIENCE: Experience as a nurse in research, clinical trials, and/or academic medical settings. A customer-service orientation and/or experience working with older adults and health disparities populations. Clinical trials management.

KNOWLEDGE: Familiar with regulations surrounding research participant recruitment, including human participants protection, health studies and Institutional Review Board

SKILLS: Demonstrated expertise in clinical trials management systems, survey tools such as REDCap, and computer systems applications, including Word for Windows, TEAMS, Excel, SPSS, Endnote, Zoom.

ABILITIES: Excellent organization, timeliness to meet deadlines, strong communications skills, attention to detail, outcomes driven, committed to learning, respectful and professional, and tolerant. Ability to plan, execute and complete work assignments independently, efficiently and accurately while working as part of a team in a multidisciplinary work environment.
PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS: Able to carry small boxes and transport study supplies between locations.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Culturally sensitive to working with Black/African American communities.
