Job Description:

Invasive Species Volunteer Events:
Participate in planning, coordinating invasive volunteer events. Work with partners to determine key volunteer training needs and survey needs (number of events, target species, acreage, etc.). Assist in building the training program, using existing materials as possible, that is used to train volunteers in species ID, treatment protocols, and survey techniques. Identify, recruit and help train volunteers for invasive species control events. Coordinate with partners to schedule and oversee volunteer workdays, ensuring effective communication and logistical support. Review event data for accuracy and maintain relevant databases.

Invasive Species Treatment Planning Trainings:
Collaborate with partners to determine key planning needs and the best time of year to offer treatment planning trainings. Assist with development and deliver training programs, utilizing existing materials whenever possible, to educate attendees on treatment planning and project development. Coordinate and help administer 3 treatment planning trainings per year. Assist interested parties with creating their own ‘projects’ within EDDMapS. Ensure relevant data is entered into EDDMapS or a UF feature layer and perform basic quality control.

Client Support and Follow-up:
Assists clients via phone, email to help address any hurdles to implementing their plans. Provides guidance on plan implementation and monitoring. Participates in site visits at ~1 month and 6 months after the training (or their plan start date, if later). Driving will be required.

Administrative Duties:
Perform duties necessary for project database management and accounting, documentation, reporting outcomes, travel, etc.

Continued Education:
Continuing education, liaison functions: attend professional and partner meetings, promote program as appropriate, participate in continuing ed seminars, workshops, meetings, conferences, webinars.

Other duties as assigned.

Expected Salary:

40,000-45,000

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in forestry or natural resource field, excellent verbal and written communication skills, 3 years’ experience in forestry and or natural resources field.
