Job Description:

Program Development and Implementation:
Develop and implement a state-wide urban forestry education program in collaboration with IFAS Extension faculty and specialists.
Identify and prioritize urban forestry education needs and develop targeted programs to address them.
Develop and maintain relationships with urban forestry stakeholders to advance the mission of the Florida Urban Forestry Extension Program.
Driving is required for collaboration with statewide stakeholders.

Training and Outreach:
Responsible for the design, development, and implementation of outreach material to County faculty and municipal urban forestry professionals.
Coordinate training sessions for program Trainers, ensuring that the information distributed aligns with Urban Forestry Extension Tree Steward standards.
Facilitate distribution of educational/training materials staff and training recipients.

Communication and Collaboration:
Implement an integrated communication plan to improve communications among urban forestry subject matter experts within IFAS and the broader UF community, improving collaboration between research and extension.
Work with IFAS IT specialists to support an urban forestry extension web portal to better direct stakeholders to the appropriate sites.  
Collaborates with UF/IFAS Communications in promoting urban forestry extension stories for IFAS news operations. Identifies and develops strong story ideas, i.e. writing communication messages, news releases, articles, and newsletters via print, online and social media platforms. 

Partnerships and Fundraising:
Develop working partnerships with various stakeholders including administrators, county faculty and specialists on significant issues and developments relating to urban forestry extension. 
Identify key urban forestry extension stakeholders and constituent groups both internally and externally and develop and implement innovative methods to reach and connect them.
Other duties as assigned.

Expected Salary:

43,888-52,171

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

A basic understanding of tree biology and ecology is needed.
A B.S. in Urban Forestry, Natural Resources, Environmental Education/Communication or a related field of study. This position requires a diversity of skills and expertise including, but not limited to strong written and oral communication skills and demonstrated leadership skills. These include the ability to effectively communicate with various audiences at conferences and meetings, and through email and other web-based formats. Efficiency in time management, organizational and team building/facilitating skills are also important.
