The Maintenance Generalist II with IFAS Facilities Planning and Operations assists with inspections and performing maintenance and preventative maintenance on UF/IFAS buildings, including aspects of interior and exterior building maintenance, carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical. Driving a state vehicle to work sites is required.
Performs and assists with various forms of building maintenance, including but not limited to:
Interior and Exterior Building Maintenance:
(40%) Assists with interior and exterior repairs and maintenance of IFAS buildings, including roofing, windows, doors, floors, and partitions of offices, classrooms, and laboratories. Tasks may require the use of a state vehicle to drive to work sites. Responsibilities also include routine checks on air conditioning systems not under service contracts, cleaning ice machines, verifying exhaust and fume hood operations, conducting monthly state fire marshal inspections of all buildings, performing limited testing of fire alarm system batteries, and testing emergency showers and eyewash stations.
(30%) Assists with and completes various carpentry tasks, including maintenance and repairs to furniture such as chairs, desks, tables, and cabinets, utilizing a variety of hand and power tools to complete the work efficiently. Duties also involve painting or repairing roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall, or other parts of building structures.
(20%) Completes assigned work orders related to the exterior pressure washing of all buildings and concrete walkways. This includes performing pressure washing tasks and assisting with monthly greenhouse preventative maintenance tasks.
(10%) Performs other related duties as required by assisting and working with other trades. This includes maintaining a valid Florida driver’s license, ensuring the ability to lift 40 lbs., and performing other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements: |
A high school diploma (or equivalent) and two (2) to four (4) years of experience in the field or in a related area.
Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Must maintain a valid Florida driver's license.
Must be able to pass a Level II background check.
