The Crop Biotechnology lab at University of Florida, headed by Fredy Altpeter is seeking candidates who are efficient in multi-tasking and time management, work well with others, pay attention to detail, are experienced with greenhouse and/or field research, have a desire to learn new skills. The candidates will carry out research in management of plant growth facilities and/or field experiments. The position requires working 40 hours per week, which includes some weekends. We are looking for individuals with exceptional performance skills, such as: self-motivation, attention to detail, honesty, dependability, adaptability, must be able to lift 50lbs. Examples of specific tasks: transfer of tissue culture derived plants to soil, monitoring of irrigation, fertilization and temperature control in greenhouses, plant propagation, pasteurization of soil, devitalization of plants by autoclaving, monitoring of pests and diseases in the greenhouse and field, planting or harvesting plots or greenhouse trails, processing samples and recording data, collecting and handling samples from greenhouse or field grown plants, ordering of supplies, monitoring compliance with biosafety regulations.

Minimum Requirements: |
Valid driver license, previous experience with greenhouse or field work with crops. Exceptional performance skills such as self-motivation, attention to detail, honesty, dependability and adaptability, excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English.
