Job Description:

Responsible for advisement of undergraduate students in CISE.  Responsible for program development and advisement/counseling for undergraduate students. Assist in the drop/add process.  Handles correspondence in person and via email as well as in other online formats.  Respond to inquiries from enrolled and prospective students concerning academic programs of study.

Cooperate with other academic support personnel in developing and maintaining electronic databases and files concerning undergraduate student records, student evaluations, course offerings, graduation rates, and alumni information.  Provide written reports and presentations concerning such information as directed by the Chair. 

Act as liaison to the Engineering Student Services Office, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Career Resource Center and companies interested in recruiting CISE students.

Perform administrative duties for grade coordination, graduation checks, degree certification, honors thesis, probation contracts, grade coordination, senior projects, transfer admissions, academic tutoring, preview advising, and course scheduling.

Assist in compiling and analyzing statistical data reports concerned with CISE undergraduate enrollments, retention, and other related data. Responsible for planning and implementation of departmental student events and programs.  Coordination of CISE/Industry Internship and co-op placement programs.

Attend departmental curriculum committee meetings. Represent the department at University events as requested by the Chair.

Miscellaneous duties as needed to provide for the overall function of the department.

Expected Salary:

$47,000-$50,000; commensurate with qualifications and experience

Minimum Requirements:

Master's degree in education, counseling, or an academic field directly related to the advisor's area of responsibility; or a bachelor's degree in education, counseling, or an academic field directly related to the advisor's area of responsibility and one year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Masters in Higher Ed or Science preferred.

Experience in advising and counseling students at the undergraduate level preferred.

Experience in developing and maintaining electronic databases preferred.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Working knowledge of University of Florida regulations and procedures to facilitate recruitment and student counseling preferred.
