Job Description:

Building Oversight and Monitoring

  • Provide support and guidance for all staff on duty during shift, including but not limited to housekeeping, maintenance, and event productions; provide information and resolve problems or concerns that may come from staff or customers; manage or direct special tasks as required
  • Regularly inspect all areas of the JWRU building for fire and other hazards, unauthorized persons, and other safety and security concerns
  • Act accordingly as needed to prevent unauthorized activity in the building and surrounding areas and ensure that there is no disruption of events in building; engage University Police as needed
  • Open designated doors and secure designated doors at building opening and closing times
  • Attend to all building emergencies and critical incidents; manage and direct JWRU staff in the appropriate response and action steps; assist emergency responders as requested; communicate with supervisors regarding details of emergency response actions
  • Interpret university and JWRU policies for students, staff, and building users
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, ADA and other relevant regulations at all times
  • Submit maintenance work orders as needed
  • Provide accurate information and customer service to guests both at the Information Desk and throughout the facility
  • Provide support to Newell Hall, as needed
  • Manage locker, dance studio, and public AV systems access
  • Reset lounge furniture

Event Operations

  • Act as host and building management representative for meetings, conferences, and events; communicate with event coordinators to ensure all arrangements are satisfactory and resolve any problems as needed
  • Review room diagrams and set-ups to ensure that all equipment including audio visual, room furnishings and amenities are delivered, set up, and operable in a timely manner
  • Assist with room/equipment set-ups, as needed 
  • Ensure access to rooms as appropriate to support staff and/or customers in a timely manner
  • Provide logistical support for the setup and breakdown of special events, coordinating closely with event coordinators and facility managers

Hotel Operations

  • Provide support to hotel staff in addressing and resolving guest inquiries and concerns, including issues related to amenities, noise, furnishings, and appliances.
  • Aid hotel staff with key card issuance, room reassignments, and the guest check-in/check-out process.
  • Assist with laundry operations
  • Provide assistance to the Hotel Housekeeping team as required

Housekeeping Operations

  • Assist Housekeeping Staff with overnight floor care, ensuring all surfaces are meticulously maintained.
  • Ensure that meeting and event spaces are thoroughly cleaned and prepared before the start of the next day's events.
  • Work collaboratively with custodial shift leaders to address and prioritize custodial projects effectively.
  • Conduct regular inspections of all common areas to maintain high standards of cleanliness and report any issues requiring immediate attention

Reporting

  • Advise Leadership Team and other supervisors immediately of situations and circumstances that warrant immediate management attention or can be categorized as “need to know”
  • Complete a comprehensive and detailed report at end of shift indicating relevant and important information and occurrences in the areas of building maintenance and operations, staffing, event management, safety and security, and any other relevant matters
  • Make recommendations to supervisors regarding policies and/or operating guidelines and procedures as needed

Handle special projects, tasks, and other duties as assigned

Expected Salary:

$18.93/HR

Shift differential added to the 3rd shift.

Minimum Requirements:

A high school diploma and four years of appropriate experience. Appropriate college coursework may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

  • Knowledge and experience with on-site building and/or event management
  • Proficiency with computers and basic software applications
  • Communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Understand, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures

Normal Work Schedule:

  • This is an overnight position - 11:00PM to 7:30AM; Days off will rotate to meet departmental needs.
  • Flexibility to adjust schedule may be required (including occasional mornings, days, and weekends) depending on the demands of position and/or department needs
  • JWRU building is open 7 days per week and most holidays; employees may be required to work weekends and holidays as needed
