Job Description:

The Emerging Technology Specialist/Professor of Legal Research is part of the LIC’s public services team. With a focus on developing instruction and programming relating to new technology and innovation in legal education and law practice, the Emerging Technology Specialist will liaison with the University of Florida’s Center for Teaching Excellence, Center for Instructional Technology and Training, and other units across campus to assist the faculty of the University of Florida’s Fredric G. Levin College of Law in incorporating new technology into their courses. As part of the public services team, the Emerging Technology Specialist will provide reference services and faculty research support and teach a section of the required first year legal research course at the University of Florida’s Fredric G. Levin College of Law. There are also opportunities to develop subject specific upper-level legal research and/or legal technology courses. The Emerging Technology Specialist reports to the Assistant Director for Public Services and will be hired as an Assistant-in-Law.

 

Professors of Legal Research are full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track faculty members and receive competitive benefits including annual and sick leave, medical and dental insurance, retirement programs, and tuition remission. Similar to other non-tenure track positions at the University of Florida’s Fredric G. Levin College of Law, there is a promotion path from Assistant-in-Law to Associate-in-Law to Senior Associate-in-Law with commensurate salary increases.

Commensurate with Experience

Minimum Requirements:

A JD from an ABA-accredited law school is required.  Either a master's degree in Library or Information Science (MLS or equivalent degree) from an accredited program or current enrollment in an accredited program is required.
