Major duties include proposal development, review and submission and management of other research related agreements, award management including effort, expenditures, modifications, and closeouts, and regular communication with project stakeholders. The position reports to the Assistant Director of IFAS Sponsored Programs Administration (SPA).The Research Administrator II is a mid-level position with some prior experience in research administration; who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. Works independently with general supervision. May influence others within the job area through explanation of facts, policies, and practices. They will work closely with the manager, supervisor, and technologists to ensure that the lab and all clients are receiving the support they need to provide timely and accurate results and service. They will need to understand the laboratory workflow and be proficient with the laboratory information system. They will be responsible for managing incoming/outgoing telephone calls and histology slide and block management. They will assist with case send out and outside material management and prepare materials for pathologists and histotechnologists. They will help with reports and addendums and distribute them to clients and pathologists. They will be involved with inventory management for the labs. They serve as a backup for Client Services and the laboratory, assisting with answering incoming phone calls, access laboratory database and communicate with clients regarding case status, specimen handling requirements, fees, insurance, and other information. There are several responsibilities in this job title. Employees will be expected to rotate through these tasks to obtain cross-training and mastery of each, over the course of the first 6 months on the job.

LAKEWATCH is a water quality monitoring program that facilitates "hands-on" participation by community volunteers in the management of Florida lakes, estuaries, rivers and springs through monthly sampling activities. LAKEWATCH is one of the largest community science programs in the country, with over 1800 trained volunteers, 800 monitored ecosystems, and 30 years of water quality data.
