The University of Florida/IFAS Extension 4-H Camping Program is looking for 12 Summer Camp Cabin Leaders for 4-H Camp Timpoochee in Niceville, FL. Summer Camp Cabin Leaders are the vital foundation to our summer camp program, as they are a positive role model, create lasting memories for all campers, provide safe cabin supervision, and have fun engaging in camper activities.
Interviews will begin via Zoom in early January. Candidates selected for an interview will be contacted via email with additional details.
Hired Summer Camp Staff will be required to start paid training on May 15, 2024. Training will consist of hands-on, in-depth training in youth development and supervision, behavior management, the experiential learning process, and other tools for a successful summer program. Training will also include familiarizing staff with their facility, traditions, and making final preparations for summer. The official first day of camp will begin on Monday, June 3, 2024, and will end Thursday, August 1, 2024. During July 3-5, 2024, Timpoochee will not be providing any youth programs, so staff will have that time off.
Working as a Summer Camp Cabin Leader for the University of Florida 4-H Camping Program can provide a season of self-growth and an unforgettable work experience. Many practical work experiences and benefits are gained during a summer at camp, such as leadership, communication, networking opportunities, collaboration with a team, letters of recommendation, and professional development to just name a few. We have had camp staff fulfill internships as part of their employment. If you’re interested in making your summer employment an internship as well, please discuss this idea with your college advisor and Ariel Blanton, the 4-H Camp Timpoochee Director. Please reach out with any questions to timpoochee4h@ifas.ufl.edu. |
