The University of Florida/IFAS Extension 4-H Camping Program is looking for 8 Summer Camp Specialists for 4-H Camp Cloverleaf in Lake Placid, FL. Summer Camp Staff are the vital foundation to our summer camp program, as they are a positive role model, create lasting memories for all campers, provide safe cabin supervision, and have fun engaging in camper activities.
Hired Summer Camp Staff will be required to start paid training May 16th or 22nd, depending upon their position. Training will consist of hands-on, in-depth training in youth development and supervision, behavior management, the experiential learning process, and other tools for a successful summer program. Training will also include going through program certifications (if not already certified), familiarizing staff with their facility, traditions, and making final preparations for summer. The official first day of camp will begin on Monday, June 5, 2024, and will end Friday, July 28, 2024.
Working as a Summer Camp Specialist for the University of Florida 4-H Camping Program can provide a season of self-growth and an unforgettable working experience. Many practical work experiences and skills are gained during a summer at camp, such as leadership, communication, networking opportunities, collaboration with a team, letters of recommendation, professional certifications, and professional development to just name a few. We have had camp staff fulfill internships as part of their employment. If you’re interested in making your summer employment an internship as well, please discuss this idea with your college advisor and Bill Tillett, the 4-H Camp Cloverleaf Director. Please reach out with any questions to open4-hcamps@ifas.ufl.edu. |
