The position supports the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP)’s Clean Vessel Act (CVA) grant program and Clean Boating Programs in the Southwest Region of Florida. In relation to this position, the SW Region includes the Intracoastal Waterway, and the coast from Pasco County south to (including) Collier County. The SW Clean Boating Coordinator will work in collaboration with the FDEP’s Clean Boating Programs, other regional Clean Boating Coordinators, the Florida Sea Grant (FSG) CVA Education Coordinator, University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) Extension FSG extension agents, interns and other partners/stakeholders to provide education to marine industries and boaters about water pollution prevention, including the Florida Clean Marina Program, the Florida CVA Program (pumpout grants), and no-discharge zones. This position coordinates with FSG Extension leadership and the FDEP’s Clean Boating Programs to meet program deliverables. Duties include recruiting and assisting marinas with CVA grant applications and Clean Marina designations. This will be done through a combination of site visits and training workshops. These may be conducted in partnership with FSG extension agents, the FSG CVA education coordinator, and other partners/stakeholders. Responsibilities also include providing education related to the Clean Boating Programs at outreach events
