| Job Description: |
The University of Florida seeks an Academic Program Specialist II to join the School of Human Development and Organizational Studies in Education (HDOSE). Primary responsibilities will be to our CACREP-accredited Counselor Education program. HDOSE is a collaborative, energetic community committed to preparing quality scholar practitioners. This 12-month position will have program and clinical administration responsibilities in the Counselor Education Program, coordinating Practicum and Internship (P & I). Roles and responsibilities include: coordinating school and community-based practicum and internship placements; enhancing partnerships with local community agencies, private practices, and schools; providing ongoing professional development for site supervisors and facilitating data collection, program assessment and reporting (e.g. CACREP). Additional duties will be assigned by the School Director.
This 12-month staff appointment will begin in fall 2025. Experience in training and supervision in counselor preparation is desirable, as the focus of this position is coordination of field experiences. Successful applicants will demonstrate the ability to supervise graduate student field-based experiences and develop and oversee school-based and clinical field work.
Coordinate school and community-based practicum & internship placements
- Plan and facilitate the annual Practicum and Internship Fair held every Fall semester.
- Support students in finding appropriate clinical placements in local schools, community agencies and private practices.
- Review and manage all paperwork submitted by students in clinical experiences.
- Provide documentation to verify successful graduate completion of practicum and internship program requirements to support state licensure applications.
- Support university group supervisors.
Enhance partnerships with local community agencies, private practices and schools
- Continuously review and audit active sites.
- Search for and establish new clinical sites to increase more the number of varied and rigorous clinical training opportunities for students.
Provide ongoing professional development for site supervisors
- Facilitate professional development workshops for site supervisors.
- Ensure site supervisors are in compliance with partnership expectations and student needs.
Facilitating data collection, program assessment and reporting
- Collaborate with the College of Education’s Director of Clinical Experiences to collect data from students and site supervisors to enhance clinical experiences.
- Collaborate with the College of Education Director of Clinical Experiences and site supervisors to assess students’ clinical skills using CACREP standards.
- Comply with all CACREP reporting requirements.
Student Support and Communication
- Provides consistent and responsive support to students, faculty, staff, & external partners
Other duties assigned by School Director
Work is primarily conducted in an office setting on campus from the hours of 8am-5pm.

| Required Qualifications: |
Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. |
| Preferred: |
- Master’s degree in professional counseling from a CACREP-accredited program.
- Minimum two years of experience in professional counseling and/or administration.
- License eligible as a professional counselor (LMHC or LMFT) in Florida, or Certification as a school counselor.
- Demonstrated knowledge of accreditation standards and higher education policies.
- Evidence of ability to establish and coordinate school and community-based practicum and internship placements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, learning management system (e.g. canvas), and student information systems (e.g. PeopleSoft).
- Commitment to supporting and mentoring diverse graduate students in the following specialties: mental health counseling, marriage and family therapy, and school counseling.
- Ability to work effectively with students, faculty and site supervisors.
- Experience in developing community partnerships, growing them, and maintaining them.
