Job Description:

UF College of Medicine - Jacksonville is seeking to hire a General Surgeon to join UF Health at Durbin Park in St. Johns, Florida. We are seeking candidates with broad clinical experience in general surgery. The candidate must be MD or DO, Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery with experience in all aspects of evaluation and treatment including minimally invasive approaches of robotic and laparoscopic surgery. Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Provide high quality patient care in all aspects of General Surgery services
  • Work collaboratively with members of the healthcare team including nurse practitioners, nursing staff, pharmacists, etc.
  • Responsible for excellent communication with primary care providers, consulting services and other referring providers
  • Assist in marketing the general surgery program to community physicians and managed care organizations
  • Participate in peer review, quality assurance, provider/departmental meetings, and other clinical and operational meetings as requested.

Future potential site development includes ability to expand hospital beds as well as an ambulatory surgical center, outpatient imaging, and additional medical office building.

Expected Salary:

Salary is based on experience with excellent benefit package.

Required Qualifications:

Licensed to practice medicine in accordance with Chapter 458, Florida Statutes* plus four years of appropriate experience. Completion of a residency program may substitute for the required experience.

Preferred:
  • Certification/Licensure in the state of Florida and Federal DEA Certification.
  • Medical Degree – M.D., D.O., or foreign equivalent.
  • Board certified in the appropriate subspecialty.
  • Completion of an accredited residency program.
