The UF Health Cancer Institute is the 72nd NCI designated cancer center and the only one at a public university in the State of Florida. As a matrix cancer center, we span all 16 colleges of the University of Florida, pulling together a world-class, multi-disciplinary membership of over 350 faculty and 150 staff to address the challenges of the cancer burden faced by the population we serve as we work together to find a cure.
As a Research Navigator at the UF Health Cancer Institute, you will coordinate cancer‑screening and community‑participative research projects Working closely with investigators, community partners, national organizations and federal agencies, you will engage UFHCI’s catchment area in screening initiatives and research studies.
In your new role you will be responsible for the following:
- Attending community screening events, conducting health and social assessments, educating participants about screening guidelines, facilitating informed consent, recording data in EMR, REDCap, or OnCore, coordinating with providers and investigators, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Traveling to partner sites, implementing study activities, working with extension offices and agencies to promote telehealth and screening, collecting social determinants of health data (SDOH), maintaining communication with community organizations, and identifying barriers to participation.
- Compiling participant and recruitment reports, supporting data quality checks and program evaluation, contributing to dissemination activities, and tracking project timelines and metrics.

$55,000 - $62,500

| Required Qualifications: |
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valid Florida Issued Class E Driver’s License.

| Preferred: |
- Bachelor’s Degree in Heath Administration, Public Health, and/or Health Communications.
- Certification in public health, tobacco cessation, health education, and/or other related disciplines, preferred.
- Three to five years’ relevant experience and/or training in research and/or community health program administration.
- Experience navigating patients within clinical and community-based care systems, including linkage to social services (e.g. transportation, insurance/financial navigation, language access).
- Understanding social determinants of health and community health support as it relates to clinical care and community health initiatives.
- Fundamental knowledge of human subjects’ research regulations, informed consent processes, HIPAA compliance, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
- Experience working with databases (e.g. EPIC, OnCore) and/or subject data using REDCap or other related tools.
- Proven sense of professional ethics and conduct, adept at applying Emotional Intelligence strategies and skills.
- Exceptional customer‑service orientation coupled with political savvy, a professional, trustworthy, and approachable demeanor, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Forward‑thinking mentality with the capacity to set high‑performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong desire to establish and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders and critical staff, both internally and externally, across platforms.
- Highly resourceful and proactive team player who can work independently while maintaining discretion.
- Excellent delegation and time‑management skills, with the ability to manage multiple cross‑functional priorities seamlessly and attend to detail.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills, including proofreading and public speaking.
- Demonstrated project‑management experience, including leading focus groups and committees through project completion.
- Conversational proficiency in Spanish or Creole (preferred, not required).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
