Job Description:

The Director of Strategic Programs is a senior leader in the College of Nursing, responsible for driving the execution and operationalization of strategic programs that advance the College’s academic, clinical, research, and administrative goals. Reporting to the Executive Director of Operations & Strategic Initiatives, the Director partners with Executive Director, college leadership, and internal and external stakeholders to implement key initiatives and ensure they are executed with discipline, accountability, and measurable impact.

This role manages complex, cross-functional projects and ensures strategic plans are translated into tangible outcomes. The Director leads implementation efforts, monitors progress, addresses barriers, and tracks metrics to measure success. The position requires strong leadership, strategic planning, operational execution, and the ability to manage initiatives and programs across multiple locations.

Strategic Program Execution

  • Lead the end-to-end execution of strategic programs and initiatives on behalf of college leadership.
  • Translate strategic goals into actionable project plans, with defined deliverables, timelines, and success metrics.
  • Mobilize and coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver results across academic, administrative, and clinical units.
  • Ensure programs are executed effectively, on time, and within scope—adapting plans as needed in response to evolving conditions or barriers.
  • Develop and implement performance indicators and outcome metrics to evaluate the impact of strategic programs.
  • Create dashboards, reports, and visualizations that communicate initiative status and results to leadership.
  • Monitor risks, dependencies, and performance gaps, and recommend adjustments to improve initiative and program success.

Project Management & Operational Delivery

  • Oversee the full project lifecycle for complex initiatives, including planning, stakeholder engagement, communications, risk mitigation, and execution.
  • Support operational readiness for new programs, including resource planning, process development, and team coordination.
  • Apply project and change management best practices to ensure adoption and sustainability of new programs.
  • Contribute to the development of administrative tools and resources that support long-term program sustainability and scalability.
  • Identify and recommend policy or procedural changes to streamline execution of strategic programs.

 

Executive & Operational Support

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the Executive Director, supporting the day-to-day coordination and communication of strategic efforts.
  • Represent leadership in meetings, working groups, and collaborative partnerships as needed.
  • Ensure operational alignment across departments and initiatives that support long-term priorities.
  • Support data-informed decision-making by regularly tracking progress toward College-wide goals.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

  • Facilitate engagement and collaboration with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Communicate goals, progress, and outcomes clearly and effectively across diverse audiences.
  • Develop communication materials and strategies that increase visibility and understanding of programs.



Expected Salary:

$120,000-$140,000

Required Qualifications:

Masters degree in an appropriate area and six years of relevant experience; or a bachelors degree in an appropriate area and eight years of relevant experience.

Preferred:
  • Experience working with higher education institutions and executive management.
  • Progressively responsible experience in strategic initiative implementation, project management, or program leadership within a complex organization.
  • Experience managing strategic programs in a higher education or healthcare environment.
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives with measurable results.
  • Familiarity with academic, research, and clinical operations.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in project management tools, reporting dashboards, and data visualization platforms
