Job Description:
  • Patient Communication and Administrative Support
    • Greet patients, answer telephones, triage patient needs, process referrals, and schedule appointments
    • Conduct appointment follow-up using the HouseCalls system
    • Maintain accurate and timely written and verbal communication, including contact notes and attachments in the patient record
    • Communicate on non-patient-related matters as needed
    • Advise patients on clinic policies and procedures
    • Serve as liaison - either in person or by phone - between patients and residents regarding account questions, treatment progress, and health updates when residents are unavailable
    • Notify program director, attending faculty, and/or treating resident of any patient dental problems, concerns, or complaints
    • Coordinate with other departments on multi-disciplinary cases and resolve issues related to electronic dental records, including duplicate, damaged, or incorrectly uploaded charts
  • Clinical and Laboratory Support
    • Assist faculty and residents in the delivery of patient care at chairside (e.g., four-handed dentistry, mixing materials, and patient communication) and in the laboratory (e.g., fabricating casts and prostheses)
    • Set up and break down dental operatories for patient appointments
    • Maintain dental instruments, equipment, and operatories in a clean and functional condition
    • Assist patients - including those with disabilities - in safely entering and exiting dental operatories and treatment chairs
    • Assist with or perform emergency procedures such as closed chest compressions, mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, and oxygen administration
    • Clean, package, and sterilize dental instruments
    • Organize and maintain inventory of dental supplies; place orders as needed
  • Training and Other Duties
    • Stay current with new equipment, materials, and techniques through in-service training and continuing education
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor and/or program director
Expected Salary:

$16.00 - $18.00/hr

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Dental Assistant certification
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification
  • Radiology certificate

Experience

  • Working in a dental or medical office
  • Microsoft office
  • Dental assisting
