Job Description:

The College of Dentistry's Faculty Practice Clinic is hiring a Clinical Service Representative II. In this patient-facing role, you will be the first point of contact for patients seeking dental care, expertly advising, counseling, and scheduling appointments by phone and in person.

Responsibilities include:

  • Direct, counsel, advise, and schedule patients seeking dental care at the CoD, both by telephone and in person.  Discuss treatment and CoD and/or Faculty Practice policies and procedures.  Coordinate treatment with dentists and dental assistants.
  • Collect payments, makes follow-up appointments, and generate report of receipts and balances daily.
  • Respond to requests from dentists and faculty members regarding patients, scheduling, etc., and follow through to completion. 
  • Review, print, and call patients from Epic referral source. 
  • Obtain proper insurance authorizations for medical patients, while collaborating with a certified coder on any financial responsibilities for the patient.
  • Verify and enter new patient demographics, confirm patients’ appointments, and see that all patients scheduled for medical treatment are verified and proper authorizations are in place.
  • Assist patients with accounting and insurance questions by reviewing treatment plans, progress notes, and accounting ledger information.
  • Maintain patient short-call list and use information to fill schedule.
  • Cover for Receptionist (as needed). Perform other duties (as assigned).
Expected Salary:

$17.50 - $18.50 per hour; commensurate with education and experience

Required Qualifications:

Preferred:

Knowledge:

  • of dental procedures and nomenclature
  • of CoD patient policies and procedures
  • of the EPIC program and the scheduling of medical patients
  • of Axium

Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of word processing programs, spreadsheets, email platforms and other communication tools
  • Keyboarding proficient 

Abilities:

  • to work independently
  • to represent Faculty Practice to the public in a positive, courteous, and thoughtful manner
  • to communicate effectively in writing, by telephone, and in person
  • to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with others
  • to plan, organize, and coordinate work activities with others

Physical Qualifications:

  • Ability to come into physical contact with patients
