Classification Minimum Requirements:

Must be 18 years of age or older.

Experience in a ceramics or pottery studio.

UF Students:
This position is open to qualifying students who meet the minimum requirements and are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through Other Personnel Services (OPS) or Federal Work-Study (FWS) and must maintain a 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week.

OPS:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and meet the minimum requirements.

Job Description:

Employees in this position must:

  • Be available to work this fall (2025)
  • Availability to work an average of 10 hours per week
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule
  • Ability to complete tasks wearing the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Ability to lift 25lbs
  • Respond to and assist with emergency situations and building evacuations per department procedures or as instructed by building management staff
  • Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining a high level of professionalism
  • Demonstrate a desire and willingness to learn in a fast-paced team-oriented environment
  • Establish an exemplary work ethic by being proactive, self-motivated, and dependable
  • Participate in all scheduled meetings, trainings, and evaluations as needed

Position Specific Responsibilities:

  • Mix ceramic glazes as needed and maintain accurate glaze inventory records
  • Load and unload bisque and glaze firings with attention to safety, fragility, and efficiency
  • Operate pugmill to process and recycle clay; weigh and prepare reclaim for studio use
  • Inspect and maintain kiln shelves
  • Assist with general studio organization and upkeep, including:
    • Changing filters, refilling materials, and arranging tools
    • Tracking member projects throughout the studio timeline
    • Supporting a clean and welcoming studio environment
Expected Salary:

$17.00/hr

Required Qualifications:

Must be 18 years of age or older.

Experience in a ceramics or pottery studio.

Preferred:
  • Knowledge of glaze mixing and basic glaze chemistry
  • Experience with loading and unloading both bisque and glaze kilns
  • Interest in ceramic arts and studio operations
