Classification Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent and two years of relevant experience.

Job Description:

Student Support – Support activities associated with the Agronomy graduate program and the Agroecology concentrations and certificates from initial application to graduation. 

• This includes serving as a resource person for students to answer questions about the various programs and provide direction on the application processes. This requires familiarity with University, Graduate School, College and Departmental policies, procedures and guidelines relating to academic programs including confidentiality of student records.

•Assists Academic Support Specialist with admission, registration, and tuition waiver processes. Requires specialized knowledge of policies, academic regulations, and individualized course/instructor situations.

•Maintains records on funding sources for tuition and stipend for each student. Maintains records of awards and scholarships.

•Sends announcements for student exit seminars and other student events to the department and college as appropriate. Assist students with room reservations.

• Serves as backup to the Academic Support Specialist.

 

Academic Program Support Activities

•Assists with Academic Activities Reporting, textbook adoptions, and course scheduling as needed.

•Assists with grade submissions.

 

Receptionist Activities

•Serve as primary receptionist for the Department by greeting prospective and current students, alumni, and other visitors and answering phones and directing callers as needed.

•Manage mail and shipping needs for the department.

•Manage reservation calendars for departmental conference rooms, graduate student room, vehicles, and greenhouses.

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent and two years of relevant experience.

Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Ability to review and compile data for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to understand and apply UF/College/Dept. applicable rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
