Job Description:

Join our dynamic Open Heart Program and Emergency & Critical Care Service as a Veterinary Technician, where you'll provide specialized nursing care for small animal patients with cardiac conditions. Our one-of-a-kind open heart surgery program provides life-changing mitral valve repair to dogs with cardiac disease. Your role will include assisting with appointments, performing diagnostic workups (such as echocardiograms and ECGs), measuring blood pressure, and providing post-operative care in the ICU. You'll also handle various general technical duties within the cardiology service.

 

We seek a highly motivated, well-organized, and compassionate individual with expertise in veterinary nursing, especially for critically ill patients. The ideal candidate possesses strong communication skills, critical thinking abilities, and a proactive approach to patient care. A willingness to learn, adaptability, and a positive attitude are essential.

This is a full-time, benefited position, considered essential personnel. A post-offer education verification, background check, and health assessment are required.

Examples of Job Duties include

Deliver high-quality nursing care for cardiac patients, ensuring efficient, professional collaboration with veterinarians and students. This includes:
Providing intensive postoperative nursing care for mitral valve repair surgery patients in the ICU.
Using advanced monitoring equipment, ventilator-assisted respiration, and infusion pumps.
Managing patient diagnostics and conducting triage assessments.
Assisting in minimally invasive cardiac procedures and specialty diagnostics like echocardiograms, ECG readings, and Holter monitor placement.
Performing catheter placements, administering treatments, and supporting sedation procedures.
Ensure accurate medical record-keeping and seamless communication with the patient care team
Support the learning and development of students, interns, assistants, and volunteers

This position has a schedule of Tues-Thurs 9a-7p

 

Expected Salary:

$25 - $31 hourly. 

   
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in Critical Care nursing and working toward VTS certification

This is a CARE position offering limited benefits, including health insurance and paid time off.  When appropriate certifications are achieved, promotional opportunities to a level II title may be available.  This position will also become eligible for transition into a TEAMS (staff) salary plan.
