The Department of Community Health and Family Medicine, in the College of Medicine at the University of Florida, is seeking a Clinical Coder I. This position supports Family Medicine clinic and hospital providers by performing charge entry and compliance reviews to ensure accurate coding and billing in alignment with UF, College of Medicine, state, and federal guidelines. The Clinical Coder I will also partner with the Coding Supervisor to identify and communicate educational opportunities to providers, residents, and staff to improve documentation and reimbursement practices.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Performing daily charge reviews, ensuring coding accuracy for ICD-10 and CPT codes, and confirming documentation compliance
- Reviewing claim edits, payer denials, and reimbursement issues to provide timely feedback and education to faculty and staff
- Researching coding updates and payer requirements to remain current with compliance standards
- Delivering education and feedback on coding and documentation improvement to providers, residents, and clinical staff
- Collaborating with the Coding Supervisor and compliance educators to address documentation gaps and support departmental training needs
- Assisting in the development of effective communication tools for coding changes and compliance updates
Schedule Information:
The standard work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., for a total of 40 hours per week. Overtime may be required occasionally, based on workload demands, and will be compensated accordingly. From time to time, a 7:00 a.m. meeting may require an adjustment to the regular schedule.
