Job Description:

The Opportunity

The Manager, Health Care Administration position oversees the daily operations of the Health Compliance team at the University of Florida, which is responsible for managing university-wide health insurance and immunization requirements for students. The individual in this role will supervise a dedicated team, establish and update policies and procedures, and ensure the delivery of exceptional customer service to students, families, and campus stakeholders. They will handle escalated issues, coordinate with vendors and campus partners, and maintain systems and processes that support timely and accurate compliance. Key responsibilities include managing work priorities, setting productivity expectations, monitoring team performance, and ensuring consistent, high-quality service delivery.

In addition to operational oversight, this role is directly responsible for managing key compliance areas such as student health insurance waivers, immunization requirement tracking, and related financial processes. The position will also maintain and update critical systems such as Medicat and Campus Solutions, ensure accurate reporting, manage student-facing communications and educational materials, and collaborate with stakeholders across UF to improve systems and workflows. The ideal candidate will bring a proactive, student-centered approach and a strong ability to drive process improvements in a dynamic, compliance-focused environment.

Staff Supervision and Office Operations

  • Establishes team priorities and deadlines, assigns and monitors daily work, and manages office activities within the Student Health Care Center.
  • Provides leadership, coaching, and feedback to Student Health Care Center team members to ensure high productivity and engagement. 
  • Handles HR-related matters for the unit and serves as the primary supervisory liaison to the public and university departments. 
  • Maintains oversight of customer service standards to ensure a high-quality experience for students, families, and stakeholders.

Data Analysis, Policy Development, and Process Improvement

  • Compiles and analyzes data, conducts research, and makes independent recommendations related to operational and administrative matters. 
  • Develops and refines internal policies, procedures, workflows, and system processes to enhance efficiency and the student experience. 
  • Oversees key functions including waiver management, immunization requirement processing, student health insurance communications, and vendor coordination. 
  • Leads updates to student portals, the office website, and other outreach materials used across campus events.

Compliance Oversight and Policy Interpretation

  • Assists with the development and interpretation of health compliance policies and procedures. 
  • Ensures adherence to applicable federal/state laws and regulations, as well as UF and college-specific guidelines. 
  • Collaborates with campus partners and legal/compliance teams to ensure policy alignment and accuracy.

Budget Coordination

  • Monitors office budgets and financial activities. 
  • Assists with budget preparation and financial reconciliations, including insurance premium invoicing, vendor payments, and P-card purchases.

Expected Salary:

$67,500 - $75,000 annually

Full-time TEAMS employees will accrue vacation leave at a rate of 6.769 hours biweekly/22 days annually and sick leave at a rate of 4 hours biweekly/13 days annually. In addition, employees are eligible for ten paid holidays each year.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and five years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred:
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently. Prefer experience working with health insurance verification or billing.
  • Experience in a high-volume office handling sensitive or confidential information. 
  • Experience providing a high level of customer interaction and an ability to handle complex situations with customer inquiries.
