Job Description:

The UF Lastinger Center for Learning in the College of Education at the University of Florida is seeking a qualified individual to coordinate research activities for its State Initiatives Team. This individual will work under the supervision of the Director of State Initiatives and will collaborate with Lastinger Center staff and external partners to carry out research activities and oversee data and reporting needs. This position requires
ongoing and effective communication with internal and external partners of the Lastinger Center for Learning.

Research

  • Assist PI to design, facilitate, and track all research activities that align with data sharing agreements, program legislation, and other policy and legal frameworks.
  • Lead or assist in the development of research manuals and protocols, assess protocol feasibility, and make changes as necessary.
  • Manage evaluation and data collection activities in coordination with project investigators and project staff, including data collection scheduling, qualitative interviewing and transcription, online survey development and administration, response tracking, entry, cleaning and preparation for analysis, and descriptive summary presentation using research-related software.
  • Educate partners and staff on study protocols and monitor compliance.
  • Draft, edit, and review IRB and other regulatory study documents, such as consent and recruitment documents, as well as IRB protocol.
  • Ensure relevant training including IRB, university, state, and federal regulations and policies and documented.
  • Participate in internal/external research related conferences and investigator meetings to build and maintain relationships.
  • Assist in the recruitment and relationship building of participants, arrange study visits, and provide instructions to meet the goals of studies.
  • Visit research sites as needed.

Collaboration/Supervision

  • Maintain cooperative, collaborative working relationships with project leaders and personnel across projects.
  • Collaborate with research staff, students, OPS, or other research teams and/or other associates across the Center to support the center’s research and evaluation efforts.
  • Facilitate and/or lead research/project team meetings.
  • Build and maintain a broad network of professional relationships with participants, principal investigator, co-investigators, research study staff, and other collaborators to ensure successful research collaborations.
  • Provide consultation to the Director of State Initiatives.
  • Support the data and reporting needs of State Initiatives.
  • Collaborate with affiliate faculty to support the research and development efforts.
  • Provide leadership and supervision for data team members, ensuring alignment with Center/project goals, maintaining data quality standards, and supporting team development through coaching and performance oversight.

Subject-Matter Expertise

  • Conduct literature reviews to inform research, development, and program implementation.
  • Ensure that research aligns to the products and services of the New Worlds Reading and the Florida Tutoring Advantage.
  • Be familiar with content and implementation and ensure alignment with research goals and agenda.
  • Identify opportunities for data collection to support research related to the New Worlds Reading and the Florida Tutoring Advantage to support children, families, or educators.
  • Contribute to the Center’s overall product line design, development, and evaluation.
  • Support the development of reports and the dissemination of findings.

Grants

  • In collaboration with PI and other team members, prepare grant narratives, budgets, and budget narratives.
  • Prepare, negotiate, and manage study contracts.

Expected Salary:

$100,000 - $110,000

Required Qualifications: Doctoral degree in an appropriate area of specialization and relevant experience.

  • Background in education
  • Proven research ability- evidence of publications in peer reviewed journals and presentations
  • Analytical skills- proficiency in statistical analysis tools and computational methods.
  • Expertise in designing and conducting experiments, studies, or analyses relevant to the education and familiarity with qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Experience writing and securing research grants or funding proposals.
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills, superior oral and written communication skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, ability to work proactively on a broad range of project support.
