Biological Scientist II

Bachelor's degree in biology or a related field and three years of experience or Master's degree in biology or a related field with one year of relevant experience.

The incumbent will perform whole animal evaluation of physiology in rodents, including treadmill running, response to disuse atrophy, and glucose tolerance tests, among others. (S)he will manage the mouse colony inventory and oversee genotyping of mouse colony lines. Contribute to research conducted in the lab for current and future research.

The incumbent will perform physiological measurements of muscle from mouse models. (S)he will assist is study design and planning with regard to mouse enrollment into studies, and managing study schedules.

Data analysis and archiving

Tissue histology and processing

Ordering supplies and management of equipment maintenance. Maintain laboratory inventory

Other duties as assigned

Commensurate with qualifications and experience

Employee must be able to perform duties with minimal supervision. Ability to prioritize and self-start are essential to this position.

Prior laboratory research experience is required. Experience in physiology, biochemistry and/or molecular biology research is desired.

Ability to communicate scientific ideas in both the written and verbal format
