Job Description:

This position serves as the primary communication and support liaison to scholarship administrators across campus, ensuring efficient coordination and timely dissemination of information. The successful candidate will have excellent customer service skills, leadership abilities, and effective communication skills.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Communication and Support

  • Serve as the main point of contact for scholarship administrators across campus.
  • Coordinate and disseminate information related to scholarship administration.
  • Provide reference materials and conduct presentations for department staff.
  • Collaborate with campus and external stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely processes related to scholarship eligibility, reporting, and disbursement of funds.
  • Assist department staff with technical and functional scholarship inquiries via phone, email, Zoom, and Teams.
  • Advise faculty, staff, and administrators regarding university policies and procedures related to financial aid.

Scholarship Administration

  • Manage the administration of all SFA Foundation Scholarships.
  • Determine eligibility, select recipients, and oversee awarding and funds management.
  • Handle scholarship documentation and mandatory reporting to the UF Foundation and other entities.
  • Assist with scholarship reconciliation processes in accordance with university policy.
  • Support the Financial Aid scholarship team for the initial setup and annual maintenance of all scholarships within Scholarship Universe.
  • Assists campus scholarship managers with the reconciliation of accounts and transfers of funds to ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies.

Financial Aid Support

  • Participate in the planning and administration of financial aid activities in the area.
  • Identify, evaluate, and resolve complex issues related to student financial aid.
  • Advise faculty, staff, and administrators regarding university policies and procedures related to financial aid.
  • Provide direct support by handling questions and interpreting/administering policies and procedures.
  • Resolve escalated problems referred to by staff.

Other Duties

  • Responsible for hiring, training, and supervising one full-time Financial Aid Coordinator and FWS/OPS employees assigned to the area.
  • Occasionally travel for Enrollment Management events, recruitment, financial aid presentations, and professional development workshops and conferences.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

This position is located at the University of Florida's main campus in Gainesville, FL and may be eligible for a flexible, hybrid work arrangement in accordance with the University of Florida and Division of Enrollment Management's policies.

Expected Salary:

$57,000 annually

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Student financial aid counseling experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication skills, attention to detail, and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of rules and regulations governing financial aid programs
  • Ability to exercise responsible professional judgment in evaluating unique circumstances
  • Ability to speak comfortably before large groups
  • Microsoft Office suite proficiency
