Large Animal Hospital Veterinary Treatment Technician I: High school diploma or equivalent and two years of experience loading, unloading, restraining, handling and treating horses or one year of experience loading, unloading, restraining, handling and treating horses in a veterinary academic teaching hospital.
Large Animal Hospital Veterinary Treatment Technician II: High school diploma or equivalent; four years of experience loading, unloading, restraining, handling and treating horses or two years of experience loading, unloading, restraining, handling and treating horses in a veterinary academic teaching hospital; and certification or licensure as a Veterinary Technician.

Job Description: |
At the University of Florida, we place a high value on the role our nurses play in helping clinicians train the next generation of veterinary students. As a member of our nursing staff, you will play an instrumental role in instructing veterinary students in technical skills and performing medical treatments and procedures as directed by our veterinarians. In addition to providing exceptional facilities for providing patient care. As an academic teaching hospital, we are fortunate to have access to the latest innovations in veterinary healthcare. A successful applicant should be seeking a part-time flexible schedule and enjoy learning new things and can quickly adapt to a changing environment. This person would work primarily weekends, holidays and after hours. A person in this position must possess a good base knowledge of veterinary medicine, excellent nursing skills, with experience in treating and handling horses - but may include goats, pigs, alpacas, cattle, sheep, and llama patients. This position also requires working alternate shifts, holidays, weekends, or “on-call duty.” This position is considered essential personnel, which may include reporting to work during Main Campus closures. This position requires a post- offer health assessment.

Expected Salary: |
$18.00 - 25.00 hourly

Certification or licensure as a veterinary technician is preferred, but not required.
