Classification Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent and two years of relevant experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.  Valid Florida drivers license                                                        

Job Description: Interact with faculty to coordinate, organize and supervise greenhouse research projects which involves allotting space, determining appropriate pre-plant treatments, specialized nutritional requirements/varieties, and any other specific details needed to accomplish the research project at the PSREU greenhouse complex. Incumbent will manage multiple greenhouse crops and be familiar with experimental design while following existing experimental protocols and predetermined research standard operating procedures.  Assist with pest, pathogen and weed identification management and responsible for applying pesticides and fertilizers along with proper calculations of application rates.  Prepare and apply a variety of pesticides, specialized solutions, emulsions and fertilizer mixtures to seeds, plants, plant parts and/or soils as specified under preset experimental protocols in greenhouse. 
Expected Salary:

up to $18.91 - Commensurate with education and experience

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent and two years of relevant experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.  Valid Florida drivers license                                                         

Preferred:

Skilled knowledge of the management and cultural practices concerning turfgrass, ornamentals, and greenhouse operations.
Knowledge and ability to obtain and maintain a State of Florida Public Pesticide License with Turf and Ornamental, Agriculture Row Crop, and Soil and Greenhouse Fumigation endorsements. 
Knowledge of pesticide and fertilizer handling, mixing, and application equipment and the ability to calibrate application equipment. 
Knowledge and ability to read data and maintain records. 
Knowledge and ability to perform arithmetical calculations. 
Assisting Field Techs and Grad Students with research tests. 
Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments. 
Ability to pay attention to details. 
Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships.
Ability be an effective communicator using both written and verbal methods.
