Job Description:

Student Affairs

  • Advising and Counseling
    • Student advocate for predoctoral students; offer guidance to students to resolve educational and personal barriers to academic success and refer students to appropriate campus resources for intervention.
    • Conduct follow-up meetings with students to determine if their needs have been met.
    • Collaborate with faculty and staff to assist with addressing student concerns.
  • D1 & D2 Guidance
    • Attend D1 & D2 Class meetings and Town Halls, record minutes, and Meeting discussions
    • Distribute temperature check surveys to D1 and D2 classes prior to the town hall meeting
    • Coordinate with the Associate Deans of SAI and OAA in reviewing and providing actions/responses as a result of the meetings and surveys
  • Officer Development
    • Organize and execute Student Elections
    • Lead application and selection process for D1 Representatives
    • Plan first-year officer mixer to promote and develop class leadership
    • Develop a plan and schedule for Student Leadership Meetings, and coordinate meetings
    • Promote officer leadership development through the following
      • Serve as an advisor, guiding and supporting students in resolving leadership concerns
      • Provide financial support and guidance for class events
      • Coordinate meetings (planned and as necessary to assist in planning events, resolving issues, etc)
      • Provide leadership development opportunities
  • Event Planning— Coordinate and oversee D1 and D2 events including;
  • Directly responsible for planning and execution of all UFCD-sponsored D1 and D2 events including
    • Orientation
    • First-year Year Series (Mental Health check-ins, Study Strategies, Self-Defense, etc)
    • Student Organization Fair
    • SAI Winter Holiday party – for all students, faculty, and staff
  • Support and advise D1 & D2 leadership on student-run events, including but not limited to
    • Donor Ceremony
    • Friends & Family Day
  • Assist the co-student affairs coordinator in other events as needed
  • Dean’s Letters
    • Collaborate with the Assoc. Dean on the Dean’s Letter of Recommendation process for pre-doctoral students and alumni applying to Advanced and Graduate Education Programs
  • Student Organizations: Work with student organizations as assigned

Academic Success Programming: Tutoring and Accommodations

  • Serve as the liaison to UF’s Disability Resource Center, coordinating support for students with testing accommodations
  • Participate in the review and updating of student accommodations policies and procedures
  • Recruit, hire, and supervise tutors
  • Coordinate tutoring services for students in need
  • Assess the effectiveness of the peer tutoring program, monitor students’ perceptions of the program, and develop strategies to address concerns found as a result of the outcomes
  • Assist in monitoring student academic progress, including tutoring referrals and participating in regular meetings with 1DN & 2DN course directors and Assoc. Dean for Academic Affairs

Administrative

  • Serves as the support person for the Associate Dean by providing general clerical support, including coordinating travel, scheduling meetings, and supporting the Office’s special projects. 
  • Supports the Student Affairs Committee and other workgroups, scheduling meetings, drafting agendas, and creating minutes; supports other committees as assigned.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise office work study student(s)
  • Provide budget management for the office
  • Keep office records of services and programs rendered
  • Participate in relevant office assessments/outcome measures
  • Office Management- take part in office management rotation cycle (duties include webpage management, inventory, office decorations/maintenance, staff meeting, retreat planning, Welcome Backs, celebration/holiday parties

College Service/Governance

  • Attend meetings and training workshops
  • Serve on appropriate committees/workgroups/advisory councils

Other duties as assigned.

Expected Salary:

$50,000 annually; commensurate with education and experience

Required Qualifications:

Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience.

Preferred:

Experience working with professional or graduate students; experience in event management and program development; crisis response training; knowledge of student organization management
