Job Description:

The Veterinary Clinical Risk Manager (VCRM) is responsible for the growth and overall effectiveness of a comprehensive, interdisciplinary clinical risk management / patient safety and quality (PSQ) program at the University of Florida Veterinary Hospitals (UFVH) that is data-driven and aligned with the hospital mission. The VCRM will work closely with the PSQ team to acquire and assimilate global information that can be used to drive safety efforts in the hospitals providing leadership and support throughout the UFVH for these initiatives which are based on an understanding of reported patient safety events.  Clinical risk management will involve reviewing safety reports, assigning tasks, performing investigations, and determining outcomes and actions. Promotion of Just Culture within the hospital and when handling safety events is an expectation of the position.  In addition to holding regular meetings with leadership, knowledge dissemination is expected and can take the form of safety projects for internal presentation, poster presentation during UF Health Safety week, or publication. 
Percentages listed are approximate. Duties include but are not limited to:

Leadership and oversight of the risk management program (PSQ)
• Generation of strategic directives and safety initiatives in the hospitals
• Acquisition and assimilation of data to be incorporated into quarterly and annual reports to the Hospital board
• Leading regular meetings of the PQS team
• Promotion of Just Culture within the hospital

Clinical risk management
• Review of safety reports, assignment of tasks, performance of investigations, and determination of outcomes and actions
• Leading root cause analysis and mortality and morbidity rounds as needed

Dissemination of knowledge gained
• Internal/external platform and poster presentations
• PQS-related research

Expected Salary:

$73,000 - $76,000 annually

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and three years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred

• DVM (or equivalent) or credentialed veterinary technician
• Previous regulatory, risk management or quality management experience
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently
• Experience in communication, presentation, and facilitation of executive level interdisciplinary group processes. 
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
