Recruitment of Students
Prepare and deliver a set of events explaining career opportunities available in finance and how the MS-FinTech Program curriculum enhances student career opportunities. Information sessions are held approximately biweekly-monthly during the academic year with separate events designed for freshman and sophomores.
Collaborate with FinTech Research Center to put on events and workshops for prospective students.
Maintain relationships with UF faculty and administrators in departments and colleges outside of the Warrington College of Business –Economics, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science – to facilitate enrolment in combined and joint degrees with these programs. Maintain relationships with the Finance Professional Development program to offer FinTech lessons and tailored events for students interested in the FinTech track.
Attract highly qualified high school students to enroll at UF in order to participate in the MS-FinTech Program through (1) distributing program materials to high school seniors, (2) developing relationships with high school guidance counselors, and (3) meeting with high school seniors visiting UF.
Expand awareness of the Program to students not enrolled in the Warrington College of Business by explaining the MS-FinTech to professionals working in the other colleges, UF Honors Program, Machen Opportunities Scholars Program and Athletics and following up with students identified by these professionals.
Student Development
Responsible for the overall formulation and operation of development of workshops for prospective MS-FinTech students. The workshops include (Career Self-Assessment, Familiarity with Potential Employers, Resume Preparation, and Interview Preparation). The workshop content is continually revised to reflect changes in the student audience and set of potential employers.
Facilitate peer to peer contact between juniors and seniors that have secured job placements and students preparing for the job market by (1) creating an online library of recorded testimonials by seniors returning from summer analyst programs, (2) setting up mock interviews, and (3) assigning mentors to job seeking students among the students that have secured jobs and/or recent graduates.
Job Placement
Devise effective junior summer internship placement strategies for each junior enrolled in the Program based on experience working with students, the historical hiring patterns and timelines, and particular attributes/qualities individual firms look for including individualized guidance on selection of what firms to apply to, managing offer timelines, and salary negotiations.
Coordinate closely with the Warrington College of Business Career Services and Corporate Relations Office to create and fill placement opportunities.
Maintain relationships with firms that hire sophomore summer interns, junior summer interns, and full-time to identify potential student candidates for these firms and facilitate interviews.
Serve as primary points of contact in the Program for firms that hire from the Program including the development of effective strategies to market their firm to students, determining the appropriate timeline for interviews and setting up interview dates and schedules. Obtain feedback from firms that hire from the program about the performance of students during interviews and summer analyst programs. Adjust the job placement strategy to address any student deficiencies identified by firms that hire from the program.
Promote the program to prospective employers by engaging in conversations to identify their needs and highlighting the educational enhancements students receive that align with those needs. Emphasize the high caliber of enrolled students and the strong career outcomes of program graduates as evidence of the program's overall quality.
Admissions and Program Completion
Determine which students are to be admitted into the Program using a holistic approach that considers the student’s grade point average, test scores, completion of pre-requisites, maturity, drive and career preparedness. Conduct at least one admissions interview for all applicants.
Monitor student performance and make sure that degree requirements are met for both students earning a combined degree in finance and students earning a specifically tailored combined degree in a major other than finance. Provide all student program and progress report requirements of the Graduate School. Soliciting and submit student course requests for courses where students have priority registration.
Alumni/Donor Relationships
Coordinate closely with, and work through, the Office of Development and Alumni Affairs to:
Maintain and enrich alumni relationships for development purposes.
Connect alumni and potential speakers with FinTech Research Center to engage them while on campus.
Manage all facets – securing a venue, ordering and processing payment for food/beverage and extending invitations – for Program sponsored events for alumni as well as a graduation event for seniors and their families.
Construct to identify fundraising targets, determine methods of contact, compose messages, and determine the optimal frequency to approach donor prospects. Provide personalized thank you notes to all program donors within a week of receiving donations.
Meet with, and occasionally entertain, alumni visitors to campus and provide them with Program updates.
Document all engagement with alumni and prospects/donors.
Curriculum Development
Provide information to Faculty Director about the extent that content of current course provides students with the relevant skills to be successful in their careers. This information is to be obtained through annual exit interviews with graduating seniors and conversations with recent graduates.
