This position provides professional support and expertise in the implementation and administration of a broad range of human resources functions or programs within an organizational unit. This role serves as a consultant to the faculty, and staff on campus and liaison with core Human Resources (HR) in Gainesville. The Human Resources Generalist I will provide support across various HR functions in the department including recruitment, providing benefit assistance, and support the HR department with ongoing projects while providing guidance to faculty, staff, students, and other affiliated personnel to ensure compliance with UF policies, practices and regulations.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Assists with full-cycle recruitment, including posting job openings, reviewing resumes, scheduling interviews, and conducting background checks. Prepares and attends Career Fairs to meet AAP and EEOC compliance. Utilize LinkedIn to proactively source, identify, and engage with top talent to build a diverse and qualified candidate pipeline.
- Provides guidance to campus staff on the appropriate ePAF to use depending on desired result. Conducts oversight of ePAF submittal to include approval and/or guidance on revision of information included in personnel transactions and needed documentation. Will submit ePAFs as needed at the direction of the HR Director, UF and campus leadership.
- Serves as a backup for the HR Assistant to conduct new hire orientation and works with hiring managers/admins to coordinate new hires first day and ensure proper completion of required new hire documentation.
- Assist with applying and explaining benefit policies and procedures to resolve a variety of benefits issues, including employee inquiries. Assist new hires with benefits enrollment in the various benefits systems. Participates in the open enrollment process and assists with benefits fair.
- Perform all other duties assigned including assisting the HR department and other departments on campus with important organization-wide projects that arise.

Minimum Requirements: |
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
|
Preferred Qualifications: |
- Master’s degree preferred in Human Resources or other related fields of study.
- Certified Notary for the state of Florida.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and project/program management skills.
- Demonstrated understanding and ability to articulate, apply, and enforce applicable state, federal laws and regulations and internal policies and processes.
- Must be detail oriented and able to anticipate challenges and illustrate the ability to adjust accordingly.
- The ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization, demonstrating cross-cultural sensitivity, and respect for differences.
- Must be able to collaborate in a team environment, convey a positive work ethic, maintain diplomatic and respectful interactions with individuals at all levels of the organization and from all backgrounds.
- The ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion when dealing with sensitive issues and information.
- SHRM-CP and/or PHR certification.
