Job Description:

Technical

  • Process of customer samples  on Flow Cytometers such as BD Fortessa, BD Symphony A3, BD Canto II, BD Accuri C6 plus, Cytoflex LX, or other Flow Cytometers and/or small particle analyzer; analyze, assess quality and deliver data to customers.
  • Process customer samples for cell sorting on the  BD Symphony S6, Sony SH800, or Fusion sorters
  • Train users on self-service flow cytometers, small particle analyzers, and  optical microscopes
  • Provide technical support, including troubleshooting, repairing, and testing flow cytometers, sorters, and other core equipment.
  • Perform daily routine equipment calibration and maintenance according to established SOPs

Customer Support

  • Serve as primary point of contact to customers
  • Provide education and training, to core facility users/customers in cytometry and  optical microscopy
  • Coordinate sample drop off from customers and data delivery
  • Coordinate delivery of samples to other ICBR Cores for further analysis
  • Assist with preparing and updating SOPs

Laboratory Management and Safety

  • Ensure compliance with Environmental Health and Safety and other institutional and governmental regulations.
  • Monitor and maintain laboratory supply inventory; place orders to replenish supplies when necessary.
  • Clean/autoclave lab glassware, supplies and biohazardous trash

Other duties as directed

Expected Salary:

$51,000 - $54,500, commensurate with education and experience

Minimum Requirements:

MS required or 5 years science related, core specific advanced training and work experience and/or post-graduate coursework. Requires at least 3 years in core facility specific applications and at least 2 years of that in research-based technology.  Work experience in multi-user core facility preferred.
Core or technology specific licensure and/or certifications where applicable. Additionally yearly certificate and compliance training if required.

Preferred Qualifications:

The preferred applicant will have an MS in Biomedical Sciences, Cell Biology or related field with 2 years experience in research laboratory. Experience using Crosslab shared resource management software and  FlowJo software preferred.
