Job Description: |
- Perform laboratory testing: genetic testing, including oncology testing, infectious disease testing, and clinical trial testing.
- Participate in the Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory maintenance of all procedures and documents required as part of good laboratory practice including quality control and quality assurance.
- General lab maintenance, procedures essential manager, including ordering lab supplies and maintaining equipment/facility records.
- Miscellaneous laboratory duties (i.e., lab meetings and communications, SOP writing, etc.) necessary to complete previously described functions.

Preferred Qualifications: |
The preferred candidate must have a minimum of a Baccalaureate degree in biochemistry, biology, or a related field with at least 3 years of experience with molecular biology techniques in a research or clinical laboratory. The candidate must be either licensed as a Medical Technologist or is expected to become temporarily licensed in Molecular Pathology based on eligibility under Chapter 483, Part III, Florida Statutes.
Desired skill set includes DNA and RNA extractions, polymerase chain reaction (PCR), real-time quantitative PCR, sequencing (Sanger or NGS) and electrophoresis. Experience with molecular biology software, instrumentation, and cell biology procedures is advantageous; however knowledge of basic cellular and molecular biology is required. The ability to work independently, analyze and present data, multitask, and maintain close communication with the Supervisor/Director is required. Excellent teamwork and communication skills are essential.
