Event Production – Responsible for coordination of all aspects of events outside the building that are utilizing Center resources, including technical production details, security, rental equipment, contracted services, and event site planning/setup. Responsible for scheduling activities at the University Band Shell and providing various technical and event staffing services to the University. Serves clients in all areas of campus including, but not limited to, the University Auditorium, the Reitz Union, the president’s home, fraternities, sororities, Florida Field, and other University Athletic Association facilities. Tasks include creation of cost estimates, staffing, coordinating details, supervision of the production, post-event follow-up and billing review.
Inside Event Production – Responsible for coordination of all production details. Acts as a liaison with the clients and contractors to ensure success of events from a production aspect within the Center. Supervises and coordinates the technical event staffing arrangements for inside Center events.
Training and Development – Develops and conducts technical and safety training classes.
Safety Coordinator – specifically responsible for coordinating inspection for all horizontal lifelines inside O’Connell Center and on exterior of building and annex. Responsible for coordination of inspection of all building rigging systems and the rigging grid. Serve as liaison to EH&S: to ensure employee safety procedures are exceeding guidelines and other safety related issues (pyro, gas, heavy lifting, etc.)
Information Technology – Acts as liaison with UF TSS personnel in assisting with technical support to keep the O’Connell Center computer network (including hardware and software) updated and functioning properly. Responsible for the library of AutoCAD files associated with all events and the amendment of these maps to ensure all event details are well coordinated in advance. Back up Associate Director with computer security roles.
Other – Coordination of maintenance and re-lamping for main arena lights and associated control systems.
Maintain venue’s installed sound systems and research/purchase proper equipment for event production needs.
Supervisor of a full time Production Specialist, part time Technical Director, part time Assistant Technical Director, as well as management of the Center’s part-time Technical Supervisory staff of around 20 people and approximately 40 part time student/OPS assistant technicians.
Required to work a non-standard work week including nights, weekends, and holidays. Work must be performed under relatively high-pressure conditions resulting from the need to ensure client satisfaction while managing a myriad of details under a strict timetable.
