The University of Florida (UF) is a major public research university. The state’s oldest and most comprehensive university, UF is among the nation’s most academically diverse public universities. As a land-, sea- and space-grant institution, UF is dedicated to serving the interests of society and is an economic powerhouse behind Florida’s economy. The Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering (HWCOE) at the University of Florida houses one of the largest and most dynamic engineering programs in the nation, producing leaders and problem-solvers who take a multidisciplinary approach to innovative and human-centered solutions. HWCOE also has a new Department of Engineering Education, which specializes in engineering education research and the delivery of innovative and effective instructional methods in engineering undergraduate courses, as well as assessment.
The J. Crayton Pruitt Family Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) has experienced rapid transformation and growth over the past ten years. The Department has strengths in the areas of biomaterials and regenerative medicine, biomedical data science, imaging diagnostics and therapeutics, and neural engineering. BME faculty benefit from close collaborations with the College of Medicine, College of Veterinary Medicine, and the College of Liberal Arts and Life Sciences adjacent to our building. Faculty and students in BME also interact with clinicians at the Malcolm Randall VA Medical Center, located south of campus. As a faculty member at UF-BME, you will benefit from access to a wealth of resources, including state-of-the-art research facilities and a wide array of internal and external professional development programs. Institutes such as the Institute for Excellence in Engineering Education (IE3), the Center for Instructional Technology and Training (CITT), and the Department of Engineering Education provide a host of resources in engineering education research, the delivery of innovative and effective instructional methods, and engineering education assessment. Together, these programs and facilities provide a vibrant environment supportive of cutting-edge biomedical engineering education and research. UF also offers competitive benefits packages, including affordable, high-quality health care and retirement plans, and a family-friendly work-life to ensure faculty success and well-being.

Other core biomedical engineering courses are of interest, including BME fundamentals, thermodynamics, transport, biomaterials, or molecular biomedical engineering. Experience in other areas, such as biomedical instrumentation, engineering design, and programming are a plus. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the next generation of biomedical engineers by participating in curriculum development and maintaining ABET accreditation, engaging in innovative teaching methods, and collaborating across the campus on impactful educational research. Successful submission and funding of engineering education grants will be encouraged. The faculty member will fully participate in department, university, and professional service activities, which are recognized and celebrated with clear promotion tracks available for non-tenure instructional ranks.
