Job Description: |
Specimen preparation and processing Under guidance of the pathologists and medical technologists, prepare materials and assist with tasks within the laboratory. Labeling tubes, Lowenstein-Jensen (LJ) slants, and slides. Prepping MGITs (Mycobacteria Growth Indicator Tubes) – adding supplement. Aliquoting buffers. Processing specimens, including but not limited to: inoculating MGITs, LJ slants, and slides. Staining and drying slides and loading the Bactec incubator. Lab maintenance Packing up and autoclaving biohazardous waste and other tasks requiring heavy item lifting and reaching. Removing and properly disposing the positive and negative MGIT tubes from Bactec instrument. Perform inventory management, put away supplies as needed, pull supplies and prepare items for transportation via courier/ distribution to clients. Clerical and telephone assistance Answers incoming phone calls in a pleasant, professional manner. Takes and routes messages, gathers relevant information and returns calls as appropriate. Documents all incoming calls from clients and resolution of calls. Understands all aspects of the telephone communication system and its operation. Other duties as assigned |
