Job Description:

The Department of Surgery at the University of Florida College of Medicine - Jacksonville, is seeking a Vascular surgeon at the non-tenure accruing level of Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor. The Department of Surgery is a tertiary referral center that serves the population of Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia. It is home to the divisions of General Surgery/Surgical Oncology, Otolaryngology, Plastic Surgery, Trauma/Acute Care/Critical Care, and Vascular Surgery. The Department of Surgery is poised for significant growth as we expand the elective surgical practice throughout the Northeast region. The Division of Vascular Surgery has two faculty members and is extremely active clinically, academically and educationally. Pioneering innovative approaches to the management of vascular trauma have derived from our program over the years. We are seeking a candidate with broad clinical experience in vascular surgery with a particular interest in endovascular therapies. The candidate must be MD or DO, Board Certified/Eligible in Vascular Surgery with experience in all aspects of the evaluation and treatment of aortic diseases, lower extremity occlusive disease, complex hemodialysis access, and the full spectrum of venous diseases. Major responsibilities include patient care, teaching, and research. Salary and academic appointment is negotiable and the benefits are excellent.

This position will report to the Chief of Vascular Surgery and Chairman of the Department of Surgery at the University of Florida College of Medicine - Jacksonville. Every faculty member in the department will have a mentoring team assigned to them and participate in the department wide faculty development program.

The following is a general description of duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide and maintain a high level of quality in-patient intermediate care services in all aspects of Vascular Surgery
  • Provide clinical teaching of trainees in Vascular Surgery and participate in the educational program.
  • Be responsible for excellent communication with primary care physicians.
  • Assist in marketing the Vascular Surgery Programs to community physicians and managed care organizations.

Participate in monthly division meetings, administrative functions and institutional committees as requested.

Minimum Requirements:

Candidates should have a MD/DO in Vascular Surgery

Preferred Qualifications:

BE/BC is preferred. Experience in all aspects of the evaluation and treatment of aortic diseases, lower extremity occlusive disease, complex hemodialysis access, and the full spectrum of venous diseases.
