Job Description: |
University of Florida’s Veterinary Community Outreach Program (VCOP) is recruiting for an individual to work in a dual role as an assistant and client service representative. The VCOP program is designed to introduce students to the challenges of veterinary practice in both community and shelter environments and give experience in spay and neuter techniques plus preventative medicine of canines and felines.
Example of Veterinary Technician Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:
• Client Service/Administrative Support o Entering client/patient information into the electronic medical record o Entering charges and closing invoices o Checking patients in o Attaching medical records
• Hospital and Service Cleanliness and Organization o Sweeping and moping o Maintaining inventory o Processing laundry o Disinfecting and cleaning equipment regularly o Ensuring cage and runs are cleaned daily
• Patient Care & Husbandry o Animal restraint for exams, catheter placements, bandage changes, anesthesia, etc o Obtain vitals such as TPR and record appropriately in medical record o Assist with patient intake and discharge o Assist with recovery o Document in patient’s medical record
The service receives Monday - Friday. May require working earlier than 7:45am or later than 5:00pm This is a full-time, benefited position and is considered essential personnel. A post-offer education verification, background check, and health assessment are required.

$15-16

Minimum Requirements: |
High school diploma or equivalent.
|
Preferred Qualifications: |
• 1-year experience in Veterinary Medicine • CVA
|

This is a CARE position offering limited benefits, including health insurance and paid time off. When appropriate certifications are achieved, promotional opportunities to a level II title may be available. This position will also become eligible for transition into a TEAMS (staff) salary plan.
