Job Description:

This position is responsible for technical support of the forensic toxicology laboratory. The incumbent will engage in methods to support medicolegal death investigation conducted by state medical examiners. Knowledge of laboratory materials, methods, and equipment is required to perform job duties effectively and efficiently.

Accessioning, maintaining and ensuring adequate chain-of-custody, inventory, and tracking of all
toxicology and histology specimens.

Analysis of biological specimens for the presence/absence of drugs and volatiles using a variety of
analytical techniques including immunoassay, gas chromatography, gas chromatography-mass
spectrometry, UV-Vis spectrophotometry, and LC-MS/MS.

Operation of analytical instrumentation including gas chromatographs, gas chromatograph-mass
spectrometers, UV-Vis spectrophotometer, LC-MS/MS, and MGC 240 automated chemistry analyzer.

Preparation and ordering of reagents, chemicals, standards, and controls as well as ensuring
adequate use of quality control materials.

Perform routine maintenance (as needed) of analytical instrumentation including gas chromatographs,
gas chromatograph-mass spectrometers, UV-Vis spectrophotometer, LC-MS/MS, and MGC 240 automated
chemistry analyzer.

Attend laboratory meetings, testify in court when required. Continue education in forensic toxicology
which may include travel to conferences.

Other duties as assigned

Expected Salary:

Starting salary is between $17.30 - $19.23 per hour

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in one of the natural / life sciences with undergraduate education in biology, chemistry,
pharmacology, toxicology, or related field; and experience working in an analytical toxicology laboratory.
