The Opportunity and Job Description

P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School (DRS) is seeking to hire a Secondary School Principal, beginning January 6, 2025. Responsibilities include: 

  • Oversee all educational, co-curricular, and extra-curricular programming and operations of the secondary school 
  • Serve as a results-oriented educational leader focused on delivering identified student performance outcomes 
  • Supporting teachers as they engage in developing and testing transformational approaches to education
  • Fostering collaboration among internal and external partners engaged in designing, developing, and testing a spiraling curriculum
  • Analyzing multiple sources of data to monitor effectiveness of transformed educational systems and curriculums
  • Monitoring and supporting school success for all students
  • Enriching and maintaining a student-centered school culture devoted to academic engagement and success
  • Leading and managing school improvement initiatives
  • Assuming administrative responsibility for all student activities and student conduct
  • Collaborating with all P.K. Yonge administrators to lead a Pre-K research school
  • Facilitating engagement of College of Education and other University of Florida faculty with P.K. Yonge faculty and staff
  • Pursuing continued professional development in educational innovations and research in teaching and learning
  • Support a safe and secure learning environment for all stakeholders
  • Support the vision and direction of the Director and Superintendent

In addition to your administrative responsibilities PKY faculty members are expected to engage in professional development, research, and outside activities. Specific professional activities include action research, opening practice to visiting educators, and leading PKY school improvement initiatives. Becoming a faculty member and administrator at P.K. Expected Salary:

Commensurate with knowledge, skills, credentials, and experience.

Minimum Requirements:
  1. A Master’s degree; Doctorate or terminal degree preferred.
  2. Florida teaching and Educational Leadership certification; School Principal certification preferred.
  3. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  4. Demonstrated commitment to serving a representative student population, as well as promoting effective strategies for motivating and teaching students with differing abilities from varied backgrounds.
  5. Established reputation for being an accessible and approachable professional.
  6. FDLE Background check.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Successful record as a public school principal, with proven history of outstanding student and faculty performance.
  2. 3+ years of highly effective classroom teaching experience in a public school setting.
  3. Doctorate or terminal degree preferred or desire to obtain Doctorate in Educational Leadership.
