Job Description:

The UF Health Cancer Center is the 72nd NCI designated cancer center and the only one at a public university in the State of Florida. As a matrix cancer center, we span 11 of the University of Florida's 16 colleges, pulling together a world-class, multi-disciplinary membership of over 330 faculty and 150 staff to address the challenges of the cancer burden faced by the population we serve as we work together to find a cure.

As a Fiscal Assistant III at the UF Health Cancer Center (UFHCC), you will be responsible for performing a variety of fiscal duties for the UFHCC’s various divisions as well as supporting oversight of the ASHANDS funds. A high level of professionalism and confidentiality is necessary for success in this role.

In your new role you will be responsible for the following:

  • Managing accounts payable and receivable activities, including processing payments, issuing invoices, and monitoring outstanding balances.
  • Following established Center, College, University SOPs and policies for keeping accounting data up-to-date and communicating with systems, vendors, and other personnel to verify data integrity.
  • Compiling data; running and providing fiscal reports in PeopleSoft, BA, Excel, and any other financial software to assist UFHCC leadership in making informed financial decisions.
  • Liaising between UFHCC end users, UFHCC IT staff, and Priority Software programming staff regarding the design and usage of BA accounting software.

This is an experienced level position, ideal for candidates with an interest in furthering their career in finance at the University of Florida and experience working with large complex budgets and state reporting. A complete job description will be provided to candidates selected for interview.

Expected Salary:

$21.50 – $24.50, hourly.

This is a TEAMS position, and is eligible for a suite of excellent benefits, retirement options, and paid leave.

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent and five years of general accounts transaction experience. Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3 - 5 years of applicable fiscal experience, with 1 or more year supporting fiscal operations at the University of Florida. 
  • Expertise and understanding of basic fiscal concepts and accounting principles.
  • Experience using the PeopleSoft grants and financials modules.
  • Awareness and knowledge of UF and State accounting principles and practices, standard office procedures, and experience using BA strongly preferred.

  • Developed problem solving and critical thinking skillset.
  • Ability to successfully work independently, interact professionally, and utilize effective writing and organizational skills.
  • Ability to review, advise, and recommend solutions for basic and complex fiscal matters.
  • Proficiency using the Microsoft Office suite.
